Table for Ten Billion, a new book to be published in mid-2021, is looking to hire a Social Media Intern. Table for Ten Billion is a first-hand account of people around the world working to feed our growing, strained, and volatile planet. The book visits farmers, entrepreneurs, and policy makers from Afghanistan to Zambia. Book subjects include global agriculture, international development, social enterprises, community development, environmental studies, and technology. The book is organized around foods we eat, including chapters on rice, corn, cassava, fish, tomatoes, cocoa, and spices. Publication date is set for August 2021.
Social Media Intern Job Responsibilities:
> Manages social media accounts and posts content.
> Create post ideas to capture interest.
> Coordinate with Research / Editor Intern to gain insight on source material.
> Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
> Understands the overall concept of the book, including the target audience, customer, goals, and other aspects of service.
> Provide suggestions to management for improving customer experience on social platforms.
Social Media Intern Qualifications/Skills:

Education and experience:
> In a college graduate program or beyond
> Prior industry experience is preferred
Interns will work closely with Tim Prewitt, former CEO of International Development Enterprises and author of the book. Tim was CEO of iDE from 2012 to 2019 during which time he led the organization to greater impact, financial growth, and global recognition. Tim has more than 25 years of private sector and international development experience, living and working in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Tim launched his career in Romania, learning firsthand how handouts lead to inefficiency and waste and went on to work in more than 30 developing countries, committed to tapping market forces in service of the very poor. While in Nigeria, Tim worked with farmers, agriculture and food production companies, and the Nigerian government to increase farmer income and farm yields, impacting more than a million farmers and a UN World Business Development Award.
Tim also served as head of the Private Sector Practice for the world’s largest development consultancy, Chemonics International, as well as leadership positions in East Timor, China, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Romania. Tim is a Fulbright Scholar with an M.A. in Sociology and an M.B.A. He is also a seasoned speaker, having been featured at venues such as M.I.T., the World Economic Forum / Grow Africa, Concordia, Clinton Global Initiative, and the World Food Prize.
Work hours and other details: interns are expected to work no more than 8-10 hours each week. Most week, the workload will be closer to 2-4 hours per week. The work will be structured with a weekly meeting to detail tasks and assignments. The total team size is three (3), with potential interface with the publishing house or book subjects.
