POSITION: Marketing Student Designer

REPORTS TO: Media Planner and Marketing Designer

SALARY RANGE: $8.00/ hr; 10-15 hours/week; hours are flexible between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, but must maintain a regular schedule (except for holidays).

POSITION START DATE: Beginning of March 2015

OVERVIEW:

Founded in 1941, the University of Nebraska Press is a nonprofit scholarly and general interest press that publishes 170 new and reprint titles annually under the Nebraska, Bison Books, and Potomac Books imprints, and in partnership with the Jewish Publication Society, along with 30 journals. As the largest and most diversified university press between Chicago and California, with 3,000 books in print, the University of Nebraska Press is best known for publishing works in Native studies, history, sports, anthropology and geography, American studies and cultural criticism, and creative works.

The Sales and Marketing department has eight full-time employees and three student workers. We are responsible for the publicity, sales, advertising and promotion of the books we publish as well as public relations and brand management for UNP.

University of Nebraska Press Marketing Student Designer responsibilities

Assist UNP marketing staff with the design of marketing materials such as advertisements, website banners, catalogs, flyers, posters, and other marketing projects as assigned. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong time management skills, and has excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office programs is required. Copywriting skills preferred. Freshman, sophomores or juniors seeking degrees in marketing, advertising, journalism, public relations, English, or related areas are encouraged to apply. This job is 10-15 hours per week and is a paid position. We are looking for someone to work throughout the summer as well as throughout the school year.
