Assignment Reporter, NTV

Primary duties include but are not limited to, making beat calls to law enforcement and various other agencies, updating court cases and checking court schedules, managing daily reporter assignments, updating the assignment desk, managing camera and car assignments, answering viewer phone calls, collecting story ideas, overseeing daily news coverage, and overseeing producers as they write newscasts. You will also be required to compile quarterly FCC reports, help plan and execute coverage for monthly
ratings periods, manage weekly producer schedules, and help write news stories as needed (both for broadcast and web.)

You will also be involved in the planning and execution of various live events throughout the year, including the NTV Tri-Cities Blood Drive, Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days, and the Harvest of Harmony Parade.

Prior broadcast experience is a must, and broadcast producing/writing experience is strongly preferred. Management experience is also recommended.

Experience:
Skills needed include the ability to communicate clearly and politely with guests, callers, on-air talent and production staff; handling daily deadlines; staying up-to-date with current events and news; and overseeing multiple employees on a daily basis. Qualified candidates must be creative, assertive, and personable and above all have a great attitude, willing to do what it takes to help the station succeed. Candidates must always maintain a positive image and demeanor when working with the team and especially when dealing with the public.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills using the AP Style, able to catch spelling and grammatical errors on the fly.
Must have the ability to work well in fast paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines.
Strong computer skills are required as well as familiarity with related tools like Skype, smart phones and all MS Office Products.
Time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills are critical.
Ability to operate a vehicle (must possess or be able to possess a valid NE state driver's license with an excellent driving record).
