Intern, Reese Cleghorn Internship Program

MDDC's Reese Cleghorn Internship Program supports local publications and developing journalists by providing college students paid, intensive, real-world experience in member publications' newsrooms each summer.

Program details
- Trains students in news reporting, copy-editing and / or photojournalism, with an emphasis on innovative and multi-media skills
- Pays each student a weekly $300 stipend for the 8-week internship ($2,400 for the whole program)
- Selects interns through a competitive application and interview process
- Creates networks for students in their hometowns that lead to jobs in the journalism field
- Provides interns with a complimentary year-long membership in the MDDC Press Association
- Prepares students with a day-long orientation before the internship begins

Who is eligible?
- Undergraduates attending any four-year college in Maryland, Delaware or the District of Columbia or residents of those jurisdictions who attend a four-year college elsewhere.
- Students with a strong career interest in news reporting, copy-editing or photojournalism who have completed a college-level course in one of these areas or have equivalent experience on a college or community publication
