Society of Professional Journalists Fellowship

The Region 7 Summer Fellowship is accepting applications through January 15.

This is a paid journalism opportunity for college journalists and/or recent graduates during the summer months. Here's a quick description...

The Sigma Delta Chi Foundation, the educational foundation for the Society of Professional Journalists, is providing funding for two SPJ members to work in a newsroom for the summer of 2016.

Fellowship recipients will work on daily journalism tasks at one of two nonprofit news organizations: the Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism, based in Iowa City, Iowa, or Omaha Public Radio, based in Omaha, Nebraska. During the three month fellowship, fellows will work on a large capstone project to be published at his/her host news organization’s discretion.

The purpose of the program is to nurture journalists’ interests in the profession despite fewer opportunities for early-career journalists.

Applications are due January 15.
