AARP Internships

Community Outreach Intern:
An exciting opportunity to help implement educational services and programs for people 50 plus. Work closely with AARP Nebraska Associate Director for Community Outreach in sup- porting activities for community presence, regional AARP volunteer teams, Life Reimagined and other volunteer efforts. Provide assistance in training, communicating with, and coordinating speaking engagements for volunteer trainers. Prepare volunteer educational materials. Design and compile event calendar. Help prepare and staff community events.
This is a paid internship.

Qualifications required:
- Currently enrolled as a student working on an undergraduate degree in social work, gerontology, liberal arts, journalism, communications or political science. Will consider all degrees and work related experience.
- Intern I position requires undergraduate studies, junior or senior year.
- Minimum GPA required is 3.0
- Able to work business hours, part-time 20 or more hours weekly.
- Experience using social media channels like Facebook, Twitter & You Tube. Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online search tools.
- Able to commit to AARP Nebraska thru internship term beginning June 6, 2016 and ending August 16, 2016.

Advocacy Intern:
An exciting opportunity to work on issues and programs of concern to people 50 plus. Work closely with AARP Nebraska Associate Director for Advocacy in supporting state and federal legislative ac- tivities such as Caregiving, Long Term Services and Supports and Financial Security.
1. Develop in-depth knowledge and compile information and research on AARP priority issues.
2. Assist with event planning and management.
3. Assist with volunteer communication and work closely with AARP staff and volunteers in provid- ing support for State Plan events.
4. Work on assorted projects that are scheduled throughout the year with an opportunity for the intern to experience many different aspects of work ranging form meetings, listening sessions, public events, varied communication with volunteers/members and event preparation.
This is a paid internship.
