Nebraska’s #1 agricultural publication, the Midwest Messenger, is seeking an experienced journalist to lead its coverage of issues and events affecting Nebraska, Iowa, and surrounding area farmers as part of a new development program to add editorial content to the Midwest Messenger and its other publications. The successful applicant will work from the Tekamah, NE office (near Omaha) and will be instrumental in the planning stages of this new initiative. Being a team player will be key for the successful applicant. Once planning and development stages are complete, applicant will be responsible for writing, compiling and coordinating freelance materials, and following general layout of the new and improved Midwest Messenger. Candidates should be self-motivated, with a genuine interest in the issues facing agriculture. A self-starter with excellent writing, computer, communication and organizational skills is necessary. A valid driver's license, current insurance, and good driving record are required. Daily travel and occasional overnight stays required.
