The Association for Women in Sports Media, a wonderful non-profit organization founded as a support network and advocacy group for women in sports journalism. We work to promote and increase diversity in sports media through our summer internship and scholarship program, which has placed more than 145 women in paid internships since 1990.
We have eight internships to go along with eight scholarships available for summer 2017: three newspaper/magazine/digital, one broadcast, two broadcast production, and two public relations at places like Sports Illustrated, USA Today Sports, CNN, ESPN and USA Softball.
Our recipients receive a $1,000 scholarship plus complimentary registration and lodging at AWSM's annual convention -- next year is in Austin.

The application period is open through Oct. 31. There is no fee for AWSM members to apply, and a $40 application fee for non-members. A student membership to AWSM is $25, which waives the internship/scholarship application fee.
