Intern, AARP (Lincoln)

An exciting opportunity to work on issues and programs of concern to people 50 plus. Work closely
with AARP Nebraska Associate Director for Advocacy in supporting state and federal legislative activities
such as Caregiving, Long Term Services and Supports and Financial Security.

-Develop in-depth knowledge and compile information and research on AARP priority issues.
-Assist with event planning and management.
-Assist with volunteer communication and work closely with AARP staff and volunteers in providing support for State Plan events.
-Work on assorted projects that are scheduled throughout the year with an opportunity for the intern to experience many different aspects of work ranging form meetings, listening sessions, public events, varied communication with volunteers/members and event preparation.

This is a paid internship.

Qualifications:
-Currently enrolled as a student working on an undergraduate or graduate degree in gerontology, political science, law, social work or liberal arts. Will consider all degrees and work related experience.
-Intern I position requires undergraduate studies, junior or senior year.
-Minimum GPA required is 3.0
-Able to work business hours, part-time 15 or more hours weekly.
-Experience using social media channels like Facebook, Twitter & You Tube. Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online search tools.
-Able to commit to AARP Nebraska thru internship term from January 17— April 28, 2017.

There may be the opportunity to extend the internship into the summer.
