Web/Graphic Designer, NEBRASKA INTERACTIVE LLC (Lincoln)

Nebraska Interactive, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of NIC, Inc. a well-established local IT company that provides internet-based, electronic government services to state and local Nebraska governments in Downtown Lincoln. We are seeking a motivated team player to work closely within our tight-knit family atmosphere. We are looking for a talented creative person with a passion in website design and development.

Responsibilites and Requirements:

-Develop and maintain UNIQUE and ORIGINAL user-friendly, fully-responsive and cross-browser compatible websites. (we ain’t lookin’ for no da gon template stealer, you must be able to hand code)
-Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
-Passion for problem solving and creating fluid user experiences.
-We’re an extension of government entities and take pride in creating a more user friendly experience for the public while also creating efficiencies within government.
-Work collaboratively with the internal design and marketing team to execute internal and external projects
-Come up with kick @ss ideas that inspire innovation
-The intersection of design and website development is a comfortable place for you
-Ability to jump from Photoshop or Sketch to code and back without skipping a beat.
-Ability to create both online and print marketing materials using the Adobe Creative Suite and other software products.
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Sketch. You get the picture.
-Strong communication skills. You will present your designs and ideas internally as well as to our partners
-Must have an online portfolio or ability to show examples of coded websites

What will set you apart from other applicants:

-Familiarity/experience with JavaScript, jQuery and PHP.
-Familiarity with Drupal 7 and 8, our primary Content Management System.
-Dreamweaver (knowledge of .dwt extension)
-Video recording and editing experience, including familiarity with Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro.
-Your ability to problem solve and troubleshoot cross-browser compatibility issues.
-Knowledge of 508 Compliancy and Accessibility issues as it pertains to the web.
-Knowledge of FTP and other protocols.
-Your ability to stay up to date with coding/design innovations and trends.
-Familiarity with using/implementing Google Analytics.
-Understanding of SEO and marketing strategies and how they relate to web design.
-Degrees and certifications do matter to us. But we also believe the “self-taught” method is very effective.
-Any other creative talents really. (Music, Drawing, Cooking, Painting, Sewing, you get the point.)
