Video Journalist
Details:
The four main functions of a video journalist are producer, reporter, video operator, and video editor. As producers, they develop and plan live or taped video segments. This can include setting up interviews, determining where a segment is to be shot or selecting the specific shots to be used. As reporters, they compile data from various sources, investigate, analyze, write and edit their stories. As camera operators, they operate their own camera, recording all segments from start to finish. Videojournalists need to be able to handle all situations that they may be thrown into and be able to cover them in an objective and concise manner.
Qualified candidates must be creative, aggressive, and personable. Must also have a good eye, a great attitude, sound news judgment, and flexibility to work any shift assigned. Candidates must also maintain a positive image when dealing with the public.

Experience:
•Organize and present information in a way that captures and maintains the viewer’s interest and is easy to understand.
•Strong computer skills are required as well as familiarity with other web related tools like Skype, texting and using Flip cams.
•Time management and organizational skills are critical since Videojournalists often work alone and unsupervised.
Requirements:
•Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Must have the ability to work well in fast paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines.
•Ability to operate a vehicle (must possess or be able to possess a valid NE state driver's license
with an excellent driving record).
•College Degree preferred especially in Journalism and Telecommunications.

•Generate and develop story ideas using beat sources, contacts, and leads
•Deliver on-air stories, including live reports and breaking news coverage, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice quality.
•Maintain thorough knowledge of events, issues, and newsmakers in Central Nebraska
•Drive and operate microwave vehicles.
•Posts stories and original content on station website and other platforms.
•Strategically engages in social media.
