KOLN/KGIN-TV is accepting applications for full-time Chief Videographer in our Lincoln office.

The Chief Videographer has the general responsibility of managing, teaching and inspiring the news team to shoot, gather and edit superior video/sound. The successful candidate will have a mastery of video and editing equipment performance/maintenance. The position also requires creativity, accuracy and an eye for great storytelling. In situations of breaking news, the Chief Videographer will set the standard by responding with a sense of urgency and mastery of various live capabilities - emphasizing video collection and dissemination on all available media. The Chief Videographer uses and trains others to use several tools to gather and edit video/audio, and should be able to collect and convey facts as needed.

Duties include, but are not limited to: superior knowledge/operation of several video/audio gathering/recording tools, live truck, TVU and various live broadcasting platforms – and the ability to teach those skills to other staff members, professional demeanor with news coverage interactions, ability to transport and deploy equipment quickly and safely to cover news, ability to be first with news coverage, basic news judgment, ability to lead and inspire others, work collaboratively with reporters, follow directions, assist with scheduling, manage equipment and coordinate necessary repairs.

Qualifications: Media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism. Strong ability to get video/audio, edit, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure. Understanding of newsroom operations and basic professional field news gathering/news coverage practices. Must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is required.

Full-time hours are variable. Applicants must be willing to work weekends, early mornings and evenings as required. Applicants are further expected to reside within 30 minutes of the station. Full-time employment includes all currently offered company benefits at time of hire.
