Professor Colleen Medill published two law review articles, "Regulating ERISA Fiduciary Outsourcing," 102 Iowa L. Rev. 505 (2017), and "ERISA Subrogation After Montanile," 95 Neb. L. Rev. 603 (2017) (with 3L student Alyssa M. Stokes as a co-author). Her article on modern ERISA subrogation trial practice was distributed to all of the lawyers and judges who are members of the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys and the Nebraska Defense Counsel Association (together, 500+ attorneys and judges practicing in Nebraska). She attended two weeks of witness hearings in Washington, D.C. in June and August as part of her service as a member of the Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council and currently serves as the vice-chair of the Health and Welfare Plans subcommittee for the Council. Her primary responsibility as vice-chair is to help the chair produce a report to the Secretary of Labor that summarizes the witness testimony and makes recommendations for regulatory changes to the rules governing reporting and participant disclosures for employer-sponsored health care and other welfare benefit plans. Professor Medill also is putting the final touches on the manuscript for the fifth edition of her casebook, Employee Benefits Law: Policy and Practice, and is currently working on a new (fifth) edition of her "Contemporary Property" casebook with her co-author, Prof. Shelley Saxer at Pepperdine Law School.
