Arbitration Competition

Informational Meeting
Wednesday, September 4
12:00-1:00 p.m.
Room 131 (seminar room in the library)

This is a great opportunity for 2 and 3Ls to sharpen their advocacy skills in a fun environment this fall!

Teams are coached by Prof. Allen Overcash who has arbitrated hundreds of cases as both an advocate and as an arbitrator.

The Arbitration Competition, sponsored by the ABA Law Student Division, involves teams of four who role play as attorneys and witnesses in order to put on a complete arbitration hearing.

Students are given a case file and then asked to create opening statements, direct and cross-examination of witnesses, present documentary and demonstrative evidence, and closing statements. In many ways, being a part of the Arbitration Competition team is like being on a trial team, but in a less formal atmosphere.

There are no prerequisites to being on the team. While some experience in arbitration and/or trial advocacy is helpful, you will get expert training from Prof. Overcash and your teammates.

Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP to Professor Kristen Blankley by August 30! kblankley2@unl.edu
