International Association of Defense Counsel 2014 Legal Writing Contest:
All J.D. candidates currently enrolled in accredited law schools are eligible to participate in the IADC Legal Writing Contest. Entrants must write on subjects in the fields of tort law, insurance law, civil procedure, evidence or other areas of the law of practical concern to lawyers engaged in the defense or management of the defense of civil litigation.

Entries must be received on or before Friday, May 16, 2014.

2014 International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Student Writing Competition:

The purpose of the Competition is to enhance scholarship in international humanitarian law among students, as well as to deepen their understanding of this important and evolving area of law.

The Competition seeks submissions of academic papers on a particular theme of international humanitarian law (IHL) from students currently enrolled in a law degree program in the United States or abroad. The theme of the 2014 Competition is "International Humanitarian Law and Emerging Technologies." Papers should focus on the ways in which IHL intersects with emerging technologies such as nanotechnologies, drones, autonomous systems, cyber warfare technologies, etc.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 16, 2014

2014 Bert W. Levit Essay Contest:

The contest encourages original and innovative research and writing in the area of legal malpractice law, professional liability insurance and loss prevention.

2014 Tannenwald Writing Competition:

Named for the late Tax Court Judge Theodore Tannenwald, Jr., and designed to perpetuate his dedication to legal scholarship of the highest quality, the Tannenwald Writing Competition is open to all full- or part-time law school students, undergraduate or graduate. Papers on any federal or state tax-related topic may be submitted in accordance with the Competition Rules.

Deadline for submitting papers: July 1, 2014.
