Hello Math Majors,
The annual Putnam Exam will be held this year on Saturday, December 7. This is a nation-wide mathematical competition which is open to all undergraduates. There is NO CHARGE to take this examination. The emphasis is on problems which require elementary methods but some originality to be solved. Freshmen and sophomores are especially encouraged to enter the competition.
Interested students are encouraged to participate in the Putnam seminar, and/or send an email to Thomas Kindred (thomas.kindred@unl.edu) or Hamid Rahmati (hrahmati2@unl.edu) with subject line Putnam, indicating their interest in participating.
The Putnam seminar will meet each Friday at 2:30 in Avery 351, starting on September 27th.
