UNL Mathematics Directed Reading Program

In the Spring 2020 semester, a group of graduate students in the math department are launching UNL's inaugural Directed Reading Program. A Directed Reading Program, or DRP, pairs undergraduate students interested in math with graduate student mentors to complete a semester-long reading project in an advanced or specialized topic. At the end of the semester, each graduate mentor will help their mentee prepare a short talk on the material they covered to give at a celebratory symposium.

While you won't get UNL credit for doing a directed reading project, you will get....

1) To read deeply into a mathematical topic of your choice, at a pace that suits you
2) Experience preparing and delivering a math talk
3) A great resume/CV booster
4) To be part of a new and exciting math community here at UNL!

More information and the Spring 2020 application can be found at the UNL DRP website:

Spring 2020 applications are due by December 1, 2019. The application is short, and is mostly meant to gauge your interests and mathematical experience. We encourage students with a range of backgrounds and interests to apply: pure, applied, new-to-math, or second-semester senior---we'd love to have you in the program! If you have specific ideas about a project or topic, let us know on the application.
