Math Directed Reading Program at UNL

In the Fall 2020 semester, graduate students in the math department are running another Directed Reading Program. A Directed Reading Program, or DRP, pairs undergraduate students interested in math with graduate student mentors to complete a semester-long reading project in an advanced or specialized topic. At the end of the semester, each graduate mentor will help their mentee prepare a short talk on the material they covered to give at a celebratory symposium.

While you won't get UNL credit for doing a directed reading project, you will get....

1) To read deeply into a mathematical topic of your choice, at a pace that suits you
2) Experience preparing and delivering a math talk
3) A great resume/CV booster
4) To be part of a new and exciting math community here at UNL!

More information and the Fall 2020 application can be found at the UNL DRP website: http://www.math.unl.edu/~mbachmann2/drp

You can also email graduate student Austin Eide at austin.eide@huskers.unl.edu with any specific questions.

Fall 2020 applications will open May 5th and will be accepted through the start of the fall semester. The application is short, and is mostly meant to gauge your interests and mathematical experience. We encourage students with a range of backgrounds and interests to apply: pure, applied, new-to-math, or senior math major - we'd love to have you in the program! If you have specific ideas about a project or topic, let us know on the application.
