Math Club: LaTeX Workshop
On Wednesday, October 6 at 4:00 pm both in-person in 108 Avery Hall and online via Zoom, the Math Club presents a LaTeX Workshop led by Michael Pieper, senior undergraduate Mathematics major.
Abstract: Interested in learning about LaTeX - the most flexible and efficient tool for typesetting scientific literature? There is a chance that mathematicians are biased, put simply put, documents produced using LaTeX just look better. Come to our introductory workshop!
The caveat is that it requires an initial investment in order to learn how it works and how to use it. Bring your laptop and, if you do not have LaTeX software installed, please open an Overleaf account (personal accounts are free) before the workshop. You can also visit our LaTeX resource page for links to various useful programs and references. LaTeX is a markup language and document preparation system. A LaTeX file can be created in any text editor, and then parsed by a TeX typesetting system to create an output document.
LaTeX is widely used by mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and, in fact, most researchers in academia to prepare scientific reports, papers and books. In this workshop, we will cover various topics starting with a beginners guide to get started and then continuing to creating a slideshow presentation and CVs. We will also dedicate some to a Q&A session to answer personalized questions that you may have.
