Career Coaching

Are you a leader of an RSO on campus who would like your members to engage some professional development? CAS Career Coaches can provide information through presentations around a variety of career topics from application materials (resumes, cover letters, etc.), searching and identifying internship opportunities, how to network or connect with alumni/professionals in career interest areas, preparing for an interview, or understanding the graduate school process…and more! If you are interested please fill out our Presentation Request from HERE and a CAS Career Coach will follow up with you!

Gaining Experience

Undergraduate Student Intern at the Foster Care Review Office
• Foster Care Review Office (FCRO) has an opportunity for an undergraduate student intern to help our office track legislative bills and activity during the 2022 Nebraska legislative session.
• The Foster Care Review Office is an independent state agency responsible for oversight of the foster care system in Nebraska.  In addition, the FCRO submits annual and quarterly reports to the legislature with data and information about children in out-of-home care in Nebraska.
• Location: In Lincoln office or remote
• Hours: 10 hours/week

2022 Ray Diversity Fellowship
We are pleased to announce that the 2022 application cycle for the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Diversity Fellowship⁠ is now open! The RAY Diversity Fellowship is a two-year (1-year with 1-year renewal), full-time position with partner conservation and clean energy organizations with the goal of increasing and facilitating environmentally-related career pathways for emerging leaders of color. RAY Fellows have worked in a variety of communications, climate, policy, research, education, fieldwork, and philanthropic capacities.
Eligibility & How to Apply
Eligible applicants will:
• Come from a racial / ethnic background underrepresented in the environmental sector and demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Be no more than 1 year out of college and have a Bachelor's Degree by August 2022 (we are not considering individuals with graduate degrees at this time)
• Have not had a full-time job in conservation or clean energy
• Have the ability to work in the United States and commit to the entire fellowship

Legal Intern Position
• Bruning Law Group in downtown Lincoln is looking for hard-working students to fill a few legal intern positions for the remaining spring semester and for the summer. Duties include conducting legislative research, drafting, and editing documents, performing organizational tasks, and completing other duties as assigned. This position will report to the Special Projects Coordinator and requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Interns will gain experience in a professional environment while interacting with attorneys and other support staff.
• Applicants must be proficient in Word and Excel. The positions are paid, and preference will be given to applicants able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Bruning Law Group’s hours of operation are from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

• Please join us for a FREE Practice LSAT using a digital testing environment. This Practice LSAT will help you practice your skills on the LSAT as well as what it is like to take the test in a digital environment similar to the Official LSAT exam. Gap Year Opportunity – Orthopedic Surgery Research in New York City
• The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City is hiring a full-time research assistant and is looking for pre-health students who will be taking a gap year to work with their research team in foot and ankle surgery research. UNMC Genetic Counseling Career Exploration Webinar
March 24th, 4:30-6pm CST
• UNMC will be hosting a virtual webinar about careers in Genetic Counseling on Thursday, March 24. Genetic counselors are healthcare providers with education in medical genetics and counseling. Genetic counseling is a fast-growing field --it's estimated that the number of genetic counselors in the U.S. will increase 28 percent by 2026 --in part because of the incredible advances in genetic testing over the past decade. Genetic counselors work in a variety of settings, including university medical centers, private and public hospitals/medical facilities, diagnostic laboratories, health maintenance organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and government organizations and agencies.
