Name: Dakota Andrews
Major: Mathematics
Year in School: Sophomore
Where are you from?
Scottsbluff, Nebraska
What gets you excited about Math?
I love the problem solving journey of mathematics, and I love seeing many different approaches to the same problem.
Favorite math class or instructor so far? Why?
My favorite class at the moment is Complex Analysis. I've always been fascinated with complex numbers, so it's very engaging analyzing their behaviors.
What are you excited about doing after graduation?
I plan on attending graduate school for mathematics, and I am excited about the opportunity to learn higher-level mathematics and research something I find particularly interesting.
What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?
I got to volunteer for UNL Math Day last fall, which was an important part of my high school.
What do you wish you would have known when you started as a Math Major that you know now?
I wish I was more comfortable with vectors; they make an appearance in most classes after Calc II, and it would have been helpful to have a solid background in them.
What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?
I want to attend at least one summer REU before I graduate.
