Save the date for the Pi Mu Epsilon lecture on Friday, October 19 from 4-5 pm!
The 12th annual Pi Mu Epsilon lecture at UNL will be held in conjunction with the induction of new members to the Nebraska Alpha chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon on Friday, October 19 from 4-5 pm in 115 Avery Hall. This year's PME lecture is presented by Professor Robert Ghrist, the Andrea Mitchell Penn University Professor in Mathematics and Electrical/Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. Professor Ghrist is known for his work on topological methods in applied mathematics, specifically for applying topology to data analysis and to the study of sensor networks. He has authored a number of textbooks for undergraduate students, including Calculus Blue a comic-book style multivariable calculus text and an undergraduate book on Elementary Applied Topology. In 2013, Ghrist was awarded the Chauvenet prize for mathematical exposition.
