Jessica Vandivort de Montiel, a regional recruiter for the Peace Corps, will be on campus on Thursday, November 15 for the Global Opportunities Fair. The Global Studies Program is helping Jessica organize a Peace Corps information session for the same day 5:00 - 6:30 PM (Location: TBA, but likely the Nebraska City Campus Union).
The Peace Corps is looking to specifically recruit students in Math and Science for the positions they have available around the world. The Peace Corps is an initiative by the United States government, and their volunteers serve in nearly every corner of the globe. The Peace Corps went through a major reorganization a few years ago, and it is now much easier for students to apply and also get a position that fits their interests/experiences than in the past. Two students who graduated this past May are currently serving abroad, one in Belize and one in Tonga (South Pacific). They are both loving their experience.
If you would like more information about the Peace Corps, please plan to attend this information session. You can also contact Jessica Vandivort de Montiel at jvandivortdemontiel@peacecorps.gov.
