AOS Summer Research Program at UW-Madison
The Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Summer Research Program (AOS-SRP) provides undergraduate students the opportunity to gain research experience in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Selected students will spend 10 weeks (June-August) in Madison* conducting research under the guidance of a faculty mentor in a variety of areas such as meteorology, remote sensing, climate change, and oceanography. In addition to research experience, several professional and academic development opportunities will also be provided during the program.
Who should apply?
Undergraduate students at least 18 years of age who are currently enrolled in an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university can apply to the AOS-SRP. Community college students, tribal college students, and students from historically excluded groups are especially encouraged to apply!
Application Requirements
1. A completed application form (see below)
2. One (1) letter of recommendation from a professor, supervisor, community leader, mentor, or other role who can provide insight regarding your skills, strengths, and work ethic. Contact information for your recommender is requested in the application form. Upon submission of your application form, a request will be sent to your recommender to submit a letter. Please remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that your recommender submits their letter on time (see Due Dates below). It is also a good idea to notify them early about the letter so that they have sufficient time to write it!
3. Unofficial transcripts from all undergraduate institutions attended. A link to upload your transcripts is provided at the end of the application form.
Due Dates
1. The completed application form and transcripts must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on March 1, 2022.
2. A letter of recommendation must be submitted independently by your recommender by 11:59 PM CST on March 15, 2022.
