It is hard to believe NIC-Transform has only been operating with NSF funding for one year. Below are some highlights from the 2022-2023 Evaluation Report that reflect how the project and all partner networked improvement communities (NICs) have benefited from this NSF project. Consistent themes in the evaluation report suggest program components and strategies had desirable influences and impacts on project goals during this project year.

  • Institutions in NIC-Transform engaged in numerous activities that informed and enhanced local program NIC efforts.
  • The NIC-Transform project strategically addressed the primary drivers and aims through the hub structure to provide support and increase institutional membership in MTEP 2.0.
  • The NIC-Transform project used a variety of mechanisms to generate, capture, and promote useful knowledge for teams.
  • The use of hubs to support NICs and further the work of the NIC-Transform project has proven itself effective.
  • The NIC-Transform hubs have strengthened internal communication and networking through various mechanisms and activities.
  • The research efforts allowed the project to collect data from all program NIC projects and begin analysis to respond to research questions.
Numerous NIC-Transform activities have been offered to support local NICs in their transformation processes. These include NIC-Casts, meetings focused on minority-serving institutions, the MTEP 2.0 AMTE Pre-Conference Meeting, and the Change Agent Check-ins, to name a few. To illustrate the benefits of activities, the graph shows how participants in the Improvement Science Boot Camp gained a lot of knowledge around NIC Design Components. Activities scheduled for the second year are designed to share information, provide opportunities for cross-NIC discussions on common interests, and further support transformation of secondary teacher preparation programs for partner institutions. Join us in celebrating the successes of the first year and read on for more details about upcoming events and opportunities to engage with MTEP 2.0 through the NIC-Transform project in the coming year.
