Promoting Equity in Approximations of Practice for Preservice Mathematics Teachers Call for Chapters & PME-NA Working Group
Chapter proposals due Oct. 1
This book will provide mathematics teacher educators and researchers an overview of approximations used in mathematics education while pushing readers to think critically about frameworks and design choices that forefront or dismiss equity in these spaces. The goal of this book is to bring together the leaders in the work of approximations and to collectively make space to consider more equitable mathematics instruction. The proposal submission deadline is Oct. 1, 2023, and full chapters will be due Jan. 30, 2024. Learn about the submission procedure.
The editors will be hosting a working group Oct. 1-4 at PME-NA in Reno, Nevada, titled “Approximations of Practice and Equity: Surveying the Spaces,” and attending participants are welcomed to use this space for feedback and collaboration on chapter proposals. Participation in this working group is not required but one avenue for support.
