“tRNA Tuning,” will be presented by Dr. Olke Uhlenbeck, Northwestern University. Each bacterial tRNA species possesses an idiosyncratic set of consensus residues distributed throughout the molecule that distinguishes it from tRNAs with different anticodons. I will describe how these residues “tune” each tRNA to function on the ribosome with its particular combination of amino acid and anticodon without compromising the accuracy of translation.
