Everyone needs to periodically self-check their mental health. It's important to keep track of your thoughts and emotions to make sure you're maintaining your behavioral health. Behavioral health – which includes mental health, substance use, and more – is a key part of your overall well-being.

UNL offers a free, anonymous mental health screening for all students. Brief screenings are the quickest way to determine if you or someone you care about should connect with a counseling professional.

The screening only takes a couple of minutes to complete. Completing these screenings will help you determine if your recent thoughts or behaviors may be associated with a common, treatable mental health issue.

You will simply be asked to select statements that closest fit how you've been thinking or behaving, answer a couple questions about your recent feelings, and then your results will be ready.

Once you receive your results, you'll be able to read through a guide explaining the meanings of your moods and behaviors. You can also access informational materials about what you can do to help yourself. If you'd like to have a follow-up appointment, you may also bring your screening results to discuss them with a counselor at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to develop a plan of action moving forward.
