There's a lot happening this fall, so don't miss out on any of these exciting events. Here are our recommendations for the upcoming week.

Mountain Biking Trail Series: Branched Oak
September 28 | 5:15–9 p.m. | Outdoor Adventures Center
Join the Outdoor Adventures Center in checking out some of Nebraska’s best mountain biking trails as they spend an evening exploring Branched Oak State Recreation Area’s rolling single-track trails. With nearly 10 miles of trails, this is the perfect excursion for beginners wanting a challenge, as well as more advanced riders looking to hone their skills.

Beethoven Celebration Recital
September 28 | 7:30– 8:30 p.m. | Live Webcast
Graduate students from the Glenn Korff School of Music are celebrating Beethoven’s 250th birthday with a concert of youthful and lesser-known works by the master. Tune in to see and hear the live music from Kimball Recital Hall. A quartet of trombones, a duo for viola and cello, a solo piano piece, three “Irish” Songs, and a movement of a violin sonata will follow a brief presentation by GKSOM Professor Emeritus Pamela Starr on the life of Beethoven.

This success workshop offered by the Center for Academic Success & Transition will teach you how to study effectively and prepare for exams while still keeping up in your other classes. Workshops take place on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in Love Library.

Virtual Huskers Abroad 101

Interested in going abroad but don’t know where to start? Attend a Huskers Abroad 101 session to take the first step toward going abroad. These sessions cover researching program options, selecting a program, funding and the timeline for the process. Virtual sessions are held Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Once registered, a Zoom link will be emailed to you.

Hostile Terrain 94 Exhibition
September 30– October 10 | All Day | Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Room 137
UNL hosts Hostile Terrain 94 Nebraska (HT94), a “pop-up” participatory art exhibition that highlights the seriousness of the humanitarian crisis at the US-Mexico border and the policies that have contributed to that crisis. Rich, interdisciplinary programming around HT94 provides multiple forms of engagement with the exhibition and its themes. Programs will explore how the issue of migration affects both the U.S.-Mexico border and Nebraska communities. A global event, 150 HT94 exhibitions will open on five continents in 2020-2021. HT94 at Nebraska is unique to all venues; it is designed as an itinerant quilt that serves as a gesture of solace and comfort as well as a document of the crisis.

Arabic Conversation Hour

Intramural Sports' Dodgeball Tournament

Intramural Sports is hosting a Dodgeball Tournament open to all students. Be sure to register by the deadline, September 29, to get a spot in the tournament. An Intramural Sports Champion shirt will be awarded to the top finisher in each division.

Joel Meyer, Magician and Entertainer

UPC Nebraska will be hosting comedy magician Joel Meyers. Combining sleight of hand and original routines with a larger-than-life personality and crowd-winning charm, Meyers specializes in taking audiences on what NBC calls “a roller coaster ride.” He’s an illusionist, mentalist and master of the stage who has appeared on "America’s Got Talent" and other television shows.
