UNL Barbell Club Wins Third Place at Tournament

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Barbell Club competed in the 2016 Capital City Clash on Jan. 23., winning third place as a team and receiving several individual medals. Ninety-three competitors and 3 teams attended the meet held at Parkview Christian School in Lincoln, NE.

The club roster includes: Kevin Carlson, Alex Cristobal, Royce Kempnich, Lee Landrum, Abbie Leschinsky, Griff Nuzzo, Hannah Opfer, Nick Petersen, Chandler Thompson, Tate Tobiason, and Faith Vawter.

Individual medal winners from the UNL Barbell Club included:
​Kevin Carlson: 1st place, 74kg, Junior Division
Alex Cristobal: 1st place, 93kg, Teen III Division
Lee Landrum: placed, 105kg, Teen III Division
Abbie Leschinsky: 1st place, 84+kg, Teen III Division
Hannah Opfer: 1st place Push and Pull, 72kg, Junior Division
Nick Petersen: 3rd, 105kg, Junior Division
Chandler Thompson: 5th place, 105kg, Juunior Division
Tate Tobiason: 1st place, 74kg, Teen III Division
Faith Vawter: 2nd place, 84kg, Open Division

UNL Sport Clubs are recognized student organizations comprised of individuals who have a desire to compete or participate in a sport throughout their college career, and exist to develop students' skills, dedication, and interest for specific sports Each club's level of activity is unique and ranges from regional to national intercollegiate competition.
