This event is to teach students and community members about Japan and its diversity. Instead of focusing on pop culture and Tokyo, we hope that participants can walk away with a greater understanding of true Japanese culture. We will be different stations representing each region of Japan detailing their rich cultures and how they differ from one another and the stereotypical image of Japan projected in the media today. We will incentive participants to learn about each region by giving each person a passport in which they will collect stamps which in turn will make them eligible to win prizes. We will also be offering Japanese food and games to make the experience not only educational but memorable as well.
