The University of Nebraska State Museum’s next Sunday with a Scientist program for children and families will explore viruses. The program is 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 20 at Morrill Hall.

What is a virus? Did you know they come in all shapes and sizes? Some can harm people, while others are helpful. With assistance from scientists in UNL’s Nebraska Center for Virology, visitors to Sunday with a Scientist will explore how viruses develop, multiply, interact with hosts and affect our lives.

The event will be led by virologists Anisa Kaenjak Angeletti, whose research focuses on human herpes simplex virus, and Peter Angeletti, who specializes in the research of human papillomavirus.

Sunday with a Scientist is a series of presentations that highlight the work of State Museum scientists and those from other UNL departments and institutions, while educating children and families on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Presenters will share scientific information in a fun and informal way through demonstrations, activities, or by conducting their science on site. Sunday with a Scientist programs are the third Sunday of each month.
