Help Your Student Succeed This Spring

Advisors can help your student succeed this spring.

The winter break is a great time to catch up with your student about their activities and classes from the previous semester. For some of your students, they have their first semester of college under their belts and they are ready to take on another semester. For others, you are in the home stretch and can see graduation in their future. Some of you may have learned that the fall semester didn’t go exactly as your student had hoped. If that is the case, it is extremely important that your student meets with his or her Academic Advisor during the first week of classes (if not the week before).

There are many things that Academic Advisors can assist students with, including schedule changes that allow for grade repeats, or better course schedules for success. Students are not always aware of academic policies in place to help them recover from a not-so-hot semester. Encourage them to work with their Academic Advisor, and not their roommate or friends, for something this important. Students can see who their Academic Advisor is in the MyRED portal on the homepage in the Academics box.
