A wide range of children's literature may directly or indirectly promote mathematics learning. Without specific criteria for teachers to base their choice of picture books for use in the classroom, opportunities may be missed.
Use this new framework to select and analyze picture books for their mathematical content, such as the accuracy of the number of cans that stack in a shopping cart.
