Julie began her career at UNL in the Fall of 2011 as an Inventory Specialist. She moved into the position of Procurement Specialist in February 2012, working with several commodities such as Household Moves, Catering, and Printing Services. Julie is now the Contracts Manager as of July 2016.

The Procurement Contracts Team helps university staff and faculty achieve their work goals in being compliant with Board of Regents Policy, State of Nebraska law, and campus policies and procedures.

They negotiate contractual language with the outside parties in order to ensure the university is not agreeing to terms or conditions that would not “hold up” should there be a conflict with this contract down the road.

The Contracts Team is the go-between for the Vice Chancellor of Business & Finance and reviews all contracts prior to signature approval. They also have access to General Counsel for questions requiring a more in depth understanding.

The Contracts Team helps staff and faculty determine the pieces required to enter into a contract. For example: is the contractor being paid, is the university being paid, does the agreement need to be reviewed by the Office of Sponsored Programs or can Procurement take care of the requested business.

All in all, the Contracts Team wants to help departments be compliant, take the pressure off the business offices by negotiating on their behalf to get the best agreement, and make the contracting process as easy as possible.

In warm weather, you will find Julie on her Harley enjoying the beautiful scenery of Nebraska. In the winter months, she paints Nebraska landscapes, her favorite medium being pastels. Julie is currently working on painting enough pieces so that she can have a gallery showing next year.

Julie loves butterscotch ice cream and La Paz, a hometown Mexican restaurant with amazing enchiladas.
