Great things are happening at Minneapolis College! These recent accomplishments showcase the meaningful impact of undergraduate research and faculty contributions in exploring questions that impact real world heath issues.

Outstanding Student Achievement Congratulations to Ekeoma Ukaga, whose research on “Effect of Dietary Patterns on Periodontal Inflammatory Disease” earned an Outstanding Poster Presentation Recognition Award at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Scientists (ABRCMS) 2025. This achievement reflects the dedication and excellence of our student researchers.

Faculty Scholarship Spotlight Dr. Renu Kumar presented “Faculty Development Fueling Student Success Through Undergraduate Research at Minneapolis College” at the American Society for Microbiology Conference for Undergraduate Educators (ASMCUE), where the talk was enthusiastically received.

Global Collaboration on AMR In partnership with collaborators, Dr. Kumar co-represented “The PARE Project: A Student-Focused Citizen Science Approach to Environmental Surveillance of AMR” at the ASM-IISc Symposium on the One Health Approach to AMR in Bengaluru, India. This session explored critical connections between human, animal, and environmental health, emphasizing antimicrobial resistance (AMR)—one of the world’s most urgent health priorities.
