Less than 4% of all students who study abroad from US choose an African destination
➢4.5-5.5 week program – 2021: Ethiopia-Zambia from late June or early July through July and early August
➢Program Cost: ~ $9,600 but likely less, plus some meals & shopping
➢Program EMPHASIZES research training, with individual and group research data collection
➢1-6 Course credits in NUTR 498b or GLST 498b: Global Research Experiences in Nutrition & Health
➢UNDERGRADUATES gain research skills:
1.research ethics and IRB
2.interview
3.survey
4.anthropometric assessment
5.visual dental exams
6.participant-observation
7.literature & database use
8.Poster in Science Format (IMRAD) withFeedback and Revision; Can be published in UNL Digital Commons
9.PowerPoint created & delivered in academic conference setting in Africa & US

➢Research sites: households, markets, health facilities,schools, NGO’s
➢Research segments, PLUS educational site visits &day at African Union
➢Medical & Dental shadowing possible
➢Student Funding: scholarship & grant support,depending on effort & eligibility
