The San Juan National Forest Dolores Ranger District is currently recruiting for four (4) full-time temporary (1039) positions for the 2021 field season including: one (1) GS-0193-09 Archaeologist and three (3) GS-0102-05/06/07 Archaeology Technicians. The San Juan National Forest’s Heritage program is responsible for the management and preservation of thousands of historic and prehistoric cultural resources including several National Register Districts. Located within the foothills and the southern San Juan and La Plata Mountains, the Forest manages over 1.8 million acres with elevations ranging between 6500 ft. and 13,000 ft.
These positions will serve as the Forest’s archaeological field crew, conducting intensive pedestrian survey, site recording and mapping, making National Register eligibility evaluations, and reporting findings in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards.
