How do violent conflicts end? Are conflicts ever truly resolved, or are they managed? Negotiating Peace is a 3-week experiential education abroad program in Ireland and Northern Ireland, home to the Good Friday Agreement which ended a long-standing conflict and brought peace and stability to the region. Students will gain negotiation experience through mock mediations, hear from guest lecturers who have had first-hand experience in peace negotiations and from individuals affected by the conflict, and visit the sites where the conflict took place. Students will also be introduced to theories of conflict resolution and peace negotiations, ethno-national conflict regulation and will engage with the various methodological approaches in the analysis of modern case studies.
