Favorite Book: My favorite book is Radical Self-Love by Gala Darling because it helps women overcome whatever they may be struggling with and allows them to find strength within themselves. It is a book that will empower and encourage anyone who reads it to follow their dreams and reminds them that they alone are capable of achieving anything they want to.

Favorite Movie: My favorite movie is Mean Girls because it’s a classic and it still makes me laugh, regardless of how many times I’ve seen it. My sisters and I can quote the entire movie from watching it so many times and it has become a reoccurring joke in our family.

Why Global Studies?
I chose to minor in Global Studies because I not only have an interest in defending human rights in the U.S., but throughout the world. GLST201 is the first Global Studies course I’ve taken and I’ve already learned so much that I didn’t know before. Each chapter I read out of the book, I find something that sparks a story idea in my mind. I strongly advise new Global Studies majors or minors to go into courses with an open mind, because some of the stuff you learn about may take you aback. I know it sure did for me.

Upcoming Study Abroad Programs: I have been accepted into the education abroad program Semester At Sea for Spring 2019. It is a program aboard a ship that travels to a total of 13 cities in 11 different countries among four continents. I’m hoping that it works out both academically and financially because I think it would be an incredible opportunity for me to further my journalistic skills internationally.

Post-graduation Plans: I’m still debating between going into newspaper journalism or broadcast journalism, but I know I want to focus on human rights issues both nationally and globally. There are so many stories that deserve to be told and deserve to be brought to the attention of others. It may be cliche, but I truly hope to use my news articles as a platform to give a voice to the voiceless in my future career.
