Welcome to SNR
We would like to welcome the following people to SNR team:
- Maria Hansen will be joining SNR on April 21. She will be the Administrative Office Associate. She is currently at UNL in the Center for Science, Math, and Computer Education. Her contact information will be HarH 912, EC 0989, 402-472-9873, mhansen5@unl.edu.
- Anthony (Tony) Nguy-Robertson was granted an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment with SNR. He is a GEOINT Analyst with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
- Miroslav (Mirek) Trnka has returned to SNR for another visit with NDMC. He will be in HARH 721 EC 0987.
Farewell
We say farewell and best wishes to the following members of the SNR team. Thank you for your service and work as a part of the team.
On June 30, the following four members of the SNR faculty will be retiring.
- Jim Brandle joined UNL in 1975 and as a professor of forestry in the School of Natural Resources, his main research emphasis has been the role of woody plants in agricultural systems, particularly windbreaks and their effects on all aspects of crop production.
- Trish Freeman joined UNL in 1981 and has served as curator of zoology for the University of Nebraska State Museum and as a professor with the School of Natural Resources whose papers on natural history and functional morphology continue to be downloaded in high numbers on a regular basis.
- Ken Hubbard joined UNL in 1981 and as a professor of applied climate science in the School of Natural Resources, he was able to underpin accuracy issues in monitoring and quality control of weather data, the use of data in modelling, and the education of planners and decision makers on the use of decision tools.
- Mark Kuzila joined UNL in 1975 and has served as director of the School of Natural Resources, director of the Conservation and Survey Division, and professor of soil science whose research involves the study of soil genesis and morphology.
- George Gale concluded his visit at SNR on April 1. He remains a member of SNR’s adjunct faculty.
- Namyun (Nathan) Kil concluded his appointment with SNR on March 31.
- Yuxia Ma finished her visit with SNR on March and has returned to China.
- Consuelo (Ceci) Romero finished her appointment with SNR on March 31.
- Jennifer Smith, post doc with Larkin Powell, will be leaving SNR on April 26 to take a new post doc position at Virginia Tech University.
- Stephen Vantassel will be leaving SNR April 30. He has accepted a position with the Montana Department of Agriculture as the State’s Vertebrate Pest Specialist.
- Haileselassie Weldemariam concluded his visit with SNR and NDMC on March 31 returned to Ethiopia.
