The Arc of Lincoln empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. They seek to promote and protect these individuals' rights and interests while enriching the quality of their lives.
The organization plans to use the $5,000 grant toward three major areas of their program: programming, staffing needs and facility needs. They hope to expand programs to pre-COVID capacity, which will require more staff and space. They are looking to have a building with sufficient office space as well as public areas to hold weekly events.
The Fall 2022 class selected The Arc of Lincoln because the organization's focus closely aligns with the mission statement the class developed. The Arc serves a very underrepresented population in Lincoln, they provide developmental resources to both individuals with disabilities and their families, and they foster long-term generational change in the individuals with disabilities who are able to become advocates for themselves.
