The Fall 2022 class selected St. Monica's Home as a recipient of a $5,000 grant. St. Monica's helps women who face substance abuse disorders, as well as mental health and trauma struggles, to make positive changes in their lives.

Serving the Lincoln community since 1964, they currently offer many services, including outpatient therapy, community support, peer support and residential treatment. They help over 275 women each year by providing them with short-term and long-term housing while providing them treatment to stay sober.

St. Monica’s plans to use Strive to Thrive Lincoln grant funds to help pay for some of the medications that their clients can’t afford. Natalya Young, executive director, shared that many of the women that come into their care don’t have medical insurance and can’t afford the medications they need. She added that grant funds would also be used to organize community activities and outings for those served by St. Monica's.

The Fall 2022 class decided St. Monica’s was deserving of this grant because they aligned so well with our mission statement. We are confident St. Monica’s will use this gift to directly help the Lincoln community. Not only does St. Monica’s serve an underrepresented population, but they also promote generational change that will truly change women’s lives.
