The Center for Transformative Teaching has five workshops left this semester, one of which will be conducted this Friday, Sept. 24.
Getting Started with Universal Design for Learning will introduce the fundamentals of UDL, which is a comprehensive approach to making a course more accessible to students, along with more inclusive.
“UDL is important because it normalizes diversity in learning,” Julia Remisk Larsen, instructional designer at the CTT, said. “Practicing UDL is like installing curb cuts for learning – one small adjustment removes barriers for everyone.”
Following the UDL workshop is Introduction to Backward Design on Oct. 7. In this workshop, participants will learn about the basic components of the backward design process and how it can help ensure alignment between course goals and assessments.
Other workshops during the semester will focus on pedagogical research, implementing open educational resources, and creating an anti-cheating classroom culture.
All workshops are open to members of the teaching community at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Participants can attend online or in person.
