The Canvas Public Course Index is a feature within Canvas that allows faculty to share course information with students who are not currently enrolled in the course. Including a course in the PCI can be a helpful preview for students who would like to learn more about a class prior to enrolling.
The two most popular course components shared by faculty are the course syllabus and a course description. It is important to note the following:
- Courses are not listed in the PCI by default. Course content is only visible to users enrolled in a course.
- Inclusion in the PCI may be changed at any time by the course instructor.
- Courses included in the PCI are only viewable to other Canvas users.
- To share a course syllabus, the “Syllabus” page in the Canvas course must be used and published.
- The Canvas course must be published to be viewable in the PCI.
