In a recent pilot, 89% of participating UNL instructors discovered lower cost options for their course materials. Since 2019, programs affiliated with the STAR initiative have saved students over $24.5 million in textbook costs. STAR programs and team members support instructors with open educational resources, inclusive access options through the Follett Access and Unizin Engage programs, and the Libraries Course Materials service.
Instructors interested in exploring more affordable alternatives for their summer and fall courses can share a current syllabus or reading list for a consultation with the Successful Teaching with Affordable Resources Team at STAR@unl.edu. Within a few weeks, a team member will reply with a list of inclusive access, library-licensed, and open education resource options to consider.
More information is available in the Affordable Content Faculty Guide. Contact STAR at STAR@unl.edu for additional assistance.
