First-Year Experience & Transition Programs (FYETP) hosts professional development workshops for UNL faculty and staff to help them effectively work with students in and out of the classroom. FYETP Academic Success Coaches facilitate these sessions based on professional experience and current research. All spring sessions are scheduled from 12:00-1:00 PM in Colonial Room A of the City Union.

• Working with First-Generation Students: Best Practices, February 18

• Transferring to UNL: Supporting Transfer Students on Campus, March 17

• Grit, Growth Mindset, and High Achieving High School Students, April 21.

FYETP staff are also available to present on these or past topics at department or unit meetings. Past workshop topics include: Academic Success: Supporting Students through Campus Resources and Referrals, Supporting Student Veterans in their Transition through College, Students’ Usage of Technology: What You Need to Know, and Supporting International Students in Your Classroom.
