'Seeds of Kindness' events at Sheldon today, Dec. 8

Sheldon Museum of Art will present performances on Dec. 7 and 8 to celebrate "Seeds of Kindness" taking root in the community. The events are free and open to all.

"Kindness Quilts," made with cards created to record acts of kindness, compassion and forgiveness, will be on display at the museum. The quilts, some of which are embedded with wildflower seeds, will be planted in the spring. Positivity Matters and the Cameron Effect organized the quilt project with logistical support from First Plymouth Church, Hy-Vee, KZUM, Lincoln City Libraries and Sheldon.

From 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7, the UNL Chamber Singers will perform a collection of songs on the theme of kindness in Sheldon's Great Hall during the museum's First Friday reception.

On Dec. 8, Sheldon presents family-oriented performances by young artists with the Suzuki Cellists at 1 p.m., Suzuki Strings at 2 and Starstruck Dance Academy at 3:15. Seasonal treats will be served throughout the afternoon in the museum's Great Hall.
