Beginning this fall, parking at Nebraska Innovation Campus becomes subject to UNL parking policies, rules and regulations -- bringing for the first time parking fees for sporting events in many areas of the new Nebraska Innovation Campus.
A $3 per vehicle, per event fee will be charged to park for athletic events, such as UNL men's and women's basketball and Lincoln Stars Hockey games, at Innovation Campus. The fee becomes effective with the Sept. 11 Nebraska vs. Illinois volleyball match at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. UNL Parking and Transit Services along with Nebraska Athletics will manage all event-parking operations, including the parking and traffic management inside the lots and at the campus entrances. Prepaid donor/booster and general ticket-holder parking will be available. Parking remains free for those attending live or simulcast horse racing at the grandstand.
NIC parking areas are divided into two parking types: "UNL permit parking" areas that surround the Devaney Sports Center and "public parking" areas. Permit parking areas will operate under the established UNL parking policies, and be used for $3 per event parking and prepaid booster/donor parking for Devaney's athletic events and Ice Box events. All other parking activity must be authorized by Parking and Transit Services.
The new Nebraska Innovation Campus Parking Operation Policy defines and organizes parking for daily campus parking operations, event-parking operations and parking lot maintenance, said Dan Carpenter, director of Parking and Transit Services. The revenues obtained from parking fees at the campus will cover operating and maintenance expenses.
