A retirement reception for Jeff Keown is 3 to 5 p.m., June 15 in the Animal Science Building, student commons area. Keown, a professor of dairy management, is retiring June 30 after 26 years at UNL.
Keown has played a strong leadership role in the Dairy Extension team's programming efforts and as a spokesman for the dairy industry. He has worked to revitalize the dairy industry in Nebraska by teaming up with aligned industries to attract dairies from outside the state.
Without a formal teaching appointment, he has coordinated and led student study tours to Mexico as part of the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education program. He has also served on many UNL committees including chairing the commencement, grievance and academic planning committees.
At Keown's request, there will be no official retirement program. Ice cream sundaes will be available during the reception.
